Congratulations to Our Poster Contest Winner — Almedia Parham!

We’re thrilled to announce that local artist Almedia Parham is the winner of this year’s Buckroe Arts in the Park poster contest!

Originally from Philadelphia and now a proud resident of coastal Hampton, Virginia, Almedia is a graduate of Temple University’s Tyler School of Art. Her early work was shaped by life in the inner city and suburbs, but after years spent in the military and a career with the railroad, she returned to her passion for art.

Almedia works in a wide range of mediums, including pastels, acrylics, watercolors, graphite, charcoal, colored pencil, and crayons. She brings her creativity to life on paper, canvas, wood, driftwood, and even seashells — often drawing inspiration from her coastal surroundings.

Her artwork can be seen at Art Central Gallery in Phoebus and several other local venues. She also has a commissioned painting, done on wood, at VFW Post #3219.

She will have a booth selling her art at Buckroe Beach Arts in the Park on Saturday, September 6!
